Dataface is a flexible and shapeable skin that sits on top of MySQL (one of the world's leading Open-source database management systems) making it accessible to normal, every-day users.
In practical terms, it automatically generates the appropriate forms, lists, and menus for a user to interact with the database without having to know any SQL (structured query language). It is a full-featured web application framework.
Dataface gives developers the flexibility to customize the features and behavior of their Dataface application by way of configuration files (using the simple INI-file syntax), templates, and plug-ins. The real power lies in a developer's ability to customize as much or as little about the application as he wants.
A generic Dataface application with no customizations is completely functional. However the developer is free to customize things.

Automatic form generation Dataface generates forms to create and edit records, in addition to adding records to relationships. Simple relationship model The Dataface relationship model makes it easy to define relationships between tables in your database. It also provides the means for end-users to easily add and remove records from relationships and to navigate the relationships without having to know any SQL. Dataface's handling of relationships is inspired by Filemaker Pro. Simple valuelist model For fields that should have a limited number of options, Dataface makes it easy to define these options based on either values in the database or options listed in a simple INI configuration file. Rich set of widgets Dataface uses HTML_QuickForm for its forms which comes with a host of widgets, including text fields, text areas, select lists, and checkboxes. In addition Dataface adds a few widgets of its own, including an HTML editor (uses FCKEditor or TinyMCE editor), a DHTML Calendar widget for date fields, a table widget (for fields contain multiple rows of data).
